John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, to Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy of Brookline, Massachusetts. Jonas Heil served as a private in the National Guard of Pennsylvania in Captain John F. Schoener's Company C, 7th Regiment; he enrolled on 13 November 1875, and was discharged on 9 May 1876 at Mahanoy City, Pa., for physical disability. Henry M. Gross was a member of Harrisburg's Company of the 8th Infantry Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard, and served on the Mexican Border. He saw subsequent service during World War I.
